Suspect shot at by police after nearly running over officer

LYNCHBURG, OH (FOX19) - Police arrested a man late Thursday night after a police chief was almost run over by an SUV.

Lynchburg's Police Chief Tim Heizer told the Wilmington News Journal that he was investigating a harassment complaint when a Ford Explorer came toward him with the lights off.

Heizer fired shots at the vehicle as it spend off.

Officers later found the driver in Clinton County with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Police are not yet releasing his name.
