PROVIDENCE, KY (WFIE) -
The dog that Tradewater Animal Clinic staff members are calling Lil' Bit, was brought in with a different make up than most dogs. Lil' Bit, a Chihuahua, was brought into the clinic missing part of her jaw.
After an evaluation, the vet, Dr. Steedly, said 12-year-old Lil' Bit's jaw had partially rotted off due to poor dental health and care.
Those who brought in the animal requested that the dog be euthanized, Dr. Steedly determined that Lil' Bit was found to be underweight, but otherwise healthy. Staff members found she can eat can food without a problem.
A clinic staff member has taken Lil' Bit home to foster until a permanent can be found. If you are interested in giving Lil' Bit a home, you can contact Rowdy Rescue in Slaughters, KY and they will get you in contact with the foster. Their number is 270-584-4499.
After seeing what damage poor dental health had done to Lil' Bit, staff members of the clinic and rescue are interested in sharing the importance of dental health in pets. They have shared some links that will give you information about dental health for pets.
