CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - State Rep. Dale Mallory announced Tuesday that $13 million in funding has been approved for the Medical Science Building rehabilitation project at the University of Cincinnati.
The Medical Science Building is located on the Uptown Campus at the University of Cincinnati. This project will upgrade and expand the Medical Science Building (MSB) complex in multiple phases over several biennia. Renovation of the existing building will provide approximately 917,000 GSF of classroom administration and support space for the College of Medicine.
The renovation will upgrade the life safety, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems as well as minimal upgrades to public space.
"The various medical science programs at the University of Cincinnati are outstanding. The University medical services educate our youth, serve our citizens, and provide jobs for the people of this city," said Rep. Mallory. "This project will make significant improvements to the medical science facility that will increase its functionality and drastically upgrade the technological, mechanical, and safety features of the building."
The building is over 35 years old and its major building components have not been upgraded or replaced prior to this project.
The estimated total cost of the project is $13,819,289. Funds for the project were released by the Ohio Controlling board, which provides oversight and final approval of state expenditures.
