The day of the fire and reported break-in, FOX Carolina spoke with Rose's husband, Highway Patrol Trooper Homer Rose, who said his wife and three dogs were OK, though one of the dogs had trouble breathing.
Master Deputy Laura Campbell said the whole situation was "very unusual," the same day.
Following the arson investigation, deputies said the burn patterns and use of ignitable liquids in the fire debris indicated arson.
According to the arrest warrants, Rose used an accelerant to start the fire and gave conflicting statements during the investigation.
Deputies said she set the fire on purpose then filed a claim with State Farm regarding the fire to get insurance benefits.
Rose was arrested Wednesday and charged with third-degree arson, burning personal property to defraud insurer, making a false insurance claim to obtain benefits for fire or explosion, and filing a false police report of a felony violation. She was being held in jail on $40,000 bond.
