Gaffney man tells wife he will win lotto then wins $200K

COLUMBIA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Gaffney man determined to win the lottery proves luck was on his side by winning $200,000 in the South Carolina Education Lottery.

The man told his wife he was going to win, and when he bought the Super Cash scratch-off ticket, he showed her he was right.

The winner told lottery officials that he buys two lottery tickets a week and sometimes lets his wife scratch them, but not this time.

"He tells me I'm bad luck," his wife told lottery officials.

The couple said they have been down on their luck lately, having to struggle for a few years, and now they said the money is a chance to plan for their future. They may even start their own business.

"I told her I was going to win us a big one," he said. "This is unreal."

The odds of winning $200,000 playing $10 Super Cash are 1 in 576,000. Two top prizes of $200,000 remain in the game.

He bought the winning ticket at Sonny's Quick Stop LLC on Granard Street. The store will get a $2,000 commission for selling the claimed ticket.
