WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) - A fire ignited in a Westwood house on Friday afternoon.
Crews responded to the fire just before 5 p.m. at a vacant single-family house in the 2000 block of Harrison Avenue. Heavy fire was coming from the second floor and attic when crews arrived.
After discovering the deteriorating conditions and that the building was vacant, crews switched to a defensive attack. Once the fire was under control, crews found it safe to resume offensive operations.
A nearby building sustained some fire damage to its roof and the fire was quickly brought under control.
Both fires were knocked down in about 30 minutes and crews remained on the scene for about two hours putting out hot spots.
Damage is estimated at less than $35,000. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
31 firefighters responded to the fire and no injuries were reported.
