CLEVES, OH (FOX19) -
A local veteran is back home in the Tri-State for the weekend.
Lance Corporal Chad Ohmer was injured in Afghanistan by an IED and is being treated at Walter Reed Hospital. Fortunately he was able to make it home to attend a benefit in his honor.
"We were waiting last minute to find out from one of my doctors if I was going to be released to come home and then he said everything looked good and let me come home. I was very happy once that happened," said Ohmer.
The Chad Ohmer Benefit Race at Gravelrama starts on Friday and goes through Sunday.
