NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -
A plane preparing to take off from Tweed Airport Thursday afternoon hit a deer that had walked onto the runway.
The deer was killed during the crash, however no people were hurt during the crash, airport officials said.
Lear Jet 36 Air Ambulance was taking a patient back to Canada when the crash occurred, officials said. The patient was brought back to a Connecticut hospital while the plane was being assessed, airport officials said.
The plane never left the ground during the crash, airport officials said.
Tweed Airport is back open after the crash.
