Theaters offer reward for catching illegal camcorders

The film industry has announced a new program designed to catch movie pirates. Studios and movie theaters will offer rewards of up to 500 dollars to employees who report people using camcorders to make illegal copies of movies. Hollywood has already come down on recordings made at pre-release screenings, searching bags and using other high-tech devices, such as metal detectors and night vision goggles. The Motion Picture Association of America says illegal copies of movies cost the industry billions of dollars a year.
