Police increase presence around UC after several robberies

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Cincinnati Police Department is increasing its presence around UC after numerous armed robberies have been reported.

Over the last two months, approximately ten robberies have occurred, with the majority of them occurring since school at the University of Cincinnati started. Two additional robberies occurred Wednesday night, Sept. 19.

  • Approximately 9:20 p.m., a single male armed with a handgun jumped out of the woods at 400 West McMillan Avenue and demanded property from the victim. The suspect is described as a male black, unknown age, 6'2", 170 lbs.
  • Approximately 11 p.m., three male subjects approached the victim at 2200 Wheeler Street. One of the suspects struck the victim with a pistol and stole various personal property. All three suspects were male blacks approximately 5'11 weighing between 190-220 lbs.

District Five has committed numerous additional uniform and undercover officers in CUF in response to these robberies. Police say in both offenses, the victims waited to call 911 and report the crimes. Police say it's imperative that victims notify the police as soon as possible after the offense occurs.
