A high tech satellite-controlled pill dispenser has been unveiled. The pill bottle is going high-tech -- thanks to a researcher at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The device patented by Mary Anne Papp can be triggered by a timer or a satellite signal. The "meds box" beeps and flashes when it's time for a patient to take a pill. The patient responds by pushing a button, and the pill is dispensed. Papp says her high-tech pill box could reduce medication errors. She also says it would be useful in a variety of settings, from nursing homes and prisons, to private homes. With the help of her pediatrician-husband, she was able to create the prototype in her basement.
