CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Joey "Jaws" Chestnut, the top ranked competitive eater in the world, was the champion of today's bratwurst eating contest at Oktoberfest Zinzinnati. This is Chestnut's third-straight World Bratwurst Eating Championship.
Chestnut did have some good competition in Tim "Gravy" Brown, who also consumed 32 brats in the regulation 10 minutes. Chestnut beat him in the overtime tie breaker, eating five brats to Brown's 3.5 in a one minute eat-off. That means Chestnut ate 37 total brats, which is short of his world record 42.
The twelve contestants ate a total of 177.5 bratwurst, and were cheered on my about 4,000 fans.
The "LA Beast," Kevin Strahle came in third eating 24 brats, followed by Andrew Kogutkiewicz with 16.5.
