Deputy makes boy, 10, happy by delivering a new bike

NEW MIAMI, OH (FOX19) - A Butler County Sheriff's Deputy made one 10-year-old boy very happy when he personally delivered a new bike to him on Sept. 22.

Deputy Matt Maxwell responded to a home on Howman Ave. in New Miami for a theft report on Sept. 1. Deputy Maxwell learned that someone had stolen a brand new bike from Michael Smiley and learned about Smiley's personal tragedies.

Maxwell searched around the area for the stolen bicycle that day, but never found it. He eventually decided to call the Hamilton West Walmart and tell them Smiley's story. Walmart donated a new bike, which Maxwell took to Smiley on Saturday.

Michael Smiley and his mother, Diana, are both thrilled and thankful to Deputy Maxwell and the Sheriff's Office.
