Iraqi Leader Threatened

An audio recording purportedly made by Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi  threatens to assassinate the interim prime minister of Iraq. The tape found online today implies that al-Zarqawi's group has made previous attempts on Iyad Allawi's  life and vows to "continue the game until the end."

The tape goes on to call Allawi the "source of all traitors." Although the voice on the tape sounded like that of al-Zarqawi, it wasn't immediately possible to authenticate the recording.

Al-Zarqawi's group is believed to have ties to al-Qaida, and several groups associated with him have claimed responsibility for numerous attacks in Iraq, including the recent beheading of a South Korean hostage.
