GREENSBURG, IN (FOX19) -

Police say an 18-year-old girl has been charged with false reporting on Thursday.

Tina Dixon told police she had been abducted on Sept. 24 and was sexually assaulted by two men then released. After investigating the report, police determined the abduction never took place.

"We have since spent numerous hours talking to people, watching the video surveillance and as it turns out her accusation's false," said Chief Bill Meyerrose of the Greensburg Police. "We do have a video of her leaving the Walmart but as far as the vehicle she was picked up by was obviously disputed by the video."

Authorities had been investigating the report along with a similar incident that allegedly took place on Sept. 17.

"There is a link to that but I'm not going to go into any great link because of her statement to us. We don't want our community to be fearful that we have a couple of guys loose running around abducting girls. This false report to some extent hopefully will subside some of that concern by the community," said Chief Meyerrose.

On Sept. 17, the Greensburg Police Department received a call from a woman who said her 13-year-old daughter had missed the school bus and was walking to Greensburg Junior High School. She was walking in the 300 block of North Lincoln Street when a black Dodge truck with a loud exhaust drove up and a passenger asked if she needed a ride. She declined and kept walking but the passenger jumped out of the truck, grabbed her and forced her into the truck.

According to the girl, the driver turned south onto Lincoln Street and while driving both men touched the girl's breast and genitals over her clothing. The driver drove around the area then returned to the location the alleged abduction took place and dropped off the girl.

The teen said she then went back home and told her mom about the offense. She described the driver as a white male in his 50's around 5'8" or 5'9" with a big stomach and brownish/gray hair with a goatee. The passenger is described as a white male in his 50's, over 6' tall and is bald with a mustache.

If you have any information, call the Greensburg Police Department CID Unit at 812-663-3131.
