Invitation-only hiring event at Horseshoe casino

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The hiring process for Cincinnati's new Horseshoe Casino continues Thursday with an invitation-only event.

About 2,000 applicants received invitations to in-person interviews.

The event is designed to allow casino leadership to meet applicants in person and begin to identify the most talented candidates for Horseshoe Cincinnati's table games team.  In addition, applicants will learn more about Horseshoe and what it takes to work in table games.

Donald Clark says he's applying because the casino atmosphere is very attractive.  "I'm one of those kind of people who loves to have a lot of fun and I love being in a positive environment and being apart of that positive environment."

Clark is the kind of applicant the casino wants to hire and Jay Bean, the Horseshoe's Director of Table Games, has invited Clark to attend their table gaming academy. "We're looking for that legendary attitude, that person that connects with their customer, that is genuine, that has confidence and that truly wants to be a service professional."

Donald Clark says a casino job would be perfect for him. "You're right in the middle of everything. If people are having a good night chances are its because you've been helping them get there and I think that's going to be a really good fit for me."

Latoya Mathis says she's looking for a change after being at her current job for ten years. "I love people. I'm a people person and I feel if you really have a passion for people you want to gravitate to where the people are and with the new casino that's where the people will be."

This event is not a job fair and is not open to the public. The casino accepted applications earlier this year.

The casino is scheduled to open next year.
