The 2012 State Fair of Virginia is fun for the whole family, but you'll pay for that fun. There are several ways to save at this year's event. The first, go during the week - ticket prices go up on the weekend.
You can buy discounted admission tickets at BB&T and Martin's. You'll save three dollars off the regular price, plus another $3 off the unlimited ride wristbands.
These locations also sell family fun packs that include 2 adult and 2 children's tickets with two unlimited ride wristbands for $68. That'll save you $14 on a weekday and $24 on the weekend. The fun pack is also available on the Fair's website. And if you buy tickets online, use the code WWBT, it'll knock a few dollars off the cost.
If you're looking to save money, you may want to go on October 2nd. It's Channel 12's 12 Buck Tuesday. The price of the wristband drops from $21 to $12 on that day only.
If you plan on going several times, you can buy a season's pass. It's $25 online or $30 at the gate and will be valid all 10 days of the fair.
Connect with the State Fair on Facebook - friends have the opportunity to win free tickets.
Keep in mind; many attractions have no additional cost. There'll be concerts, thrill shows and exhibits that are included with the price of admission.
If you want to know how to save money buying food at the fair, Richmond Bargains has several options to eat on the cheap.
