Interfaith mission aims to build bridges between religions

WARREN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

Two different religious groups from Warren County will be making a 6,000-mile trip to Israel together.

On Friday, members from the Cedar Village Retirement Community and the Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Community met to prepare for the 10-day journey. The goal of the trip is to build bridges between their religions and better understand each other's religions.

"There has never been an interfaith mission of older adults before and we think that sends a lot of messages about the ability of older adults to participate. We always say age is just a number," said Carol Silver Elliot.

"Everybody is an individual and they should get along with everybody and religion or color or anything should not interfere with it," said Marjorie Zeidman.

The group of 30 members will leave for Israel on Oct. 24.
