Former OSU star charged in road rage shooting
Columbus (WOIO) - Former Ohio State defensive lineman Jim Stillwagon was charged with felonious assault after allegedly shooting a man in the head after a road rage incident Sunday afternoon.
Stillwagon is accused of shooting at another driver and hitting him in the head with a handgun causing it to go off with the bullet grazing the man's head.
The former Buckeye star and College Football Hall Of Famer had bond set at $350,000 during a hearing in Delaware, Ohio, just north of Columbus.
Stillwagon, who was driving a motorcycle and the other driver might have started when one driver cut the other off. Stillwagon then shot at the driver and followed him to a parking lot where he confronted the truck driver. The whole incident lasted approximately 14 miles.
Stillwagon played under Woody Hayes from 1968-70 and won the Outland and Lombardi awards as the nation's best lineman in the country.
A preliminary hearing in his assault case is scheduled for Oct. 10.
