Business to boom in Lawrenceburg

LAWRENCEBURG, IN (FOX19) - Five new businesses are about to open their doors in downtown Lawrenceburg as part of Pop Up Shop contest sponsored by Lawrenceburg Main Street, Inc.

The non-profit group agreed to  pay the merchant's first three months of rent and utility bills to give the downtown business district a try.

Sixteen business owners applied.

"We had an excellent selection. The choices were difficult," said Pat Krider, Executive Director of Lawrenceburg Main Street, Inc.

The goal is to rejuvenate downtown Lawrenceburg and make it a vibrant business district. The new and established merchants are counting on foot traffic from Hollywood Casino and The Lawrenceburg Event Center once its built.

"Hopefully the people in Lawrenceburg will come and see what we have and how we've done with it," said Nancy Miles whose Edgewood Designs store was one of those chosen.

All five stores will take part in a grand opening event Thursday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m..
