FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - A lawsuit has been filed against a Florence doctor who had his license suspended after several patients died while in his care.
The lawsuit was filed in Boone County Circuit Court byBarbara Fuller, the mother of Floyd David Fuller.
According to the lawsuit, Floyd David Fuller was a patient of Shearer's who died from an overdose of oxycodone in August of 2009.
The lawsuit claims negligence, fraud and wrongful death against Shearer and seeks punitive damages.
Barbara Fuller's attorney, Eric Deters, said this is the first of many lawsuits to be filed against Dr. Shearer.
Dr. Shearer had his license suspended last month after the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure found that 15 patients died while under his treatment.
