Fairfield Police, along with city volunteers, will spend the next month cleaning out shrubs and other overgrowth along the creek where the bodies of 15-year old Chelsea Johnson and 19-year old Joey Oakley's were found.

Oakley was found shot to death back in August and Johnson was stabbed to death in April.

"The first incident with the girl was very shocking to the area, and then to have a second body found is even more shocking and I definitely think something needs to be done," said Brittney Clarke, a Fairfield resident.

Fairfield Police, other city departments, the Creekside Apartment Complex and volunteers will clear out the north side of the creek from Pleasant Ave. to Riverside Rd.

"We are hoping by clearing out this brush that incidents like that won't occur or the likelihood of them occurring will be less," said Fairfield Police Officer Doug Day.

Police say the effort will make the area safer by making it a less desirable place in which to loiter. The Fairfield Police Department is looking for volunteers as well as donations for food, beverage and equipment. If you are interested in helping, call P.O. Doug Day at the Fairfield Police Department at 513-896-8268.
