GA-HITREC Announces Scholarships for “Certified Health Information Technology Professional” Courses Online to Address Shortage of Trained Health IT Professionals in Georgia Hospitals

The Regional Extension Center in Georgia, GA-HITREC, announces scholarships to eligible rural Georgia hospitals and primary care providers for their clinical and HIT staff to enroll in the “Certified Health Information Technology Professional” Courses available on the GA-HITREC Online Training Center. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, through its Curriculum Development Centers program, created a comprehensive group of courses to help healthcare and IT professionals navigate these unchartered waters of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and Health Information Exchange (HIE) with confidence. Many people in IT may find the transition to healthcare IT a challenge and in addition, there are those already working in healthcare who may find the prospect of moving into EHRs and meaningful use daunting.
