HENRYVILLE, IN (WAVE) - Twin Oaks subdivision looks like a giant construction site. The reason: Habitat for Humanity is doing a blitz build of ten houses for the victims of the Henryville tornado.

Volunteers from Habitat and local churches are putting up the exteriors of the homes with the families that will receive them. Vicky Guernsey's two daughters were alone in their house when the tornado hit. She says to see all these people come together is amazing.

"It's overwhelming it's amazing," said Guernsey. "With every step of this I've said ‘oh this is too good to be true' and then they put the sign up front and of course I took a picture of it, and yeah, it's real!"

"It's just amazing that there are so many people out here helping," said Shirley Miller, who will be living across the street from Guernsey.

The houses should be move-in ready by mid-December. Guernsey said it is the perfect holiday gift.

"We're looking forward to our first Christmas and we don't care what the tree looks like because it's going to be a fast move," said Guernsey.

Volunteers will continue to work with the families to put up the walls to their house so they can walk through their front door at the end of the week.
