OWEN COUNTY, KY (FOX19) -

A woman has been arrested and charged with the attempted murder of her father, who is also the Owen County Sheriff.

Heather Hammond, 37, was arrested in Owen County on Thursday for allegedly attempting to shoot her father, Sheriff Zemer Hammond, but the gun jammed.

FOX19's sister station, WAVE3, is reporting that this is not the first time the family has been in trouble with the law. Back in May the sheriff's son, Joshua Hammond, was charged with beating and strangling a man before dumping his body on the side of Interstate 64 in Franklin County.

Heather Hammond is charged with attempted murder and wanton endangerment and is being held at the Carroll County Jail.
