Elderly Alzheimer's patient found in Sabina Ohio

MASON, OH (FOX19) - An Alzheimer's patient who had gone missing was found about 40 miles away from his home. Shortly after 8 p.m. the Mason Police Department was notified that Melvin Fitzharris, 83, was located in Sabina Ohio after he stopped to ask for directions.

Around 1 p.m. Friday Mason police learned that Fitzharris left his residence in Mason Christian Village on Western Row Road around 11:15 and did not return. Fitzharris suffers from Alzheimer's and does not drive on a regular basis, but was driving a light blue 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. The vehicle has a dark blue top and license plate number EF29.

Fitzharris is okay and is being returned to his home.
