BAE sells remaining West Chester operations

BAE Systems has announced that it has reached an agreement for the proposed sale of its West Chester, Ohio-based Commercial Armored Vehicles LLC business to The O'Gara Group, Inc.

This proposed sale of Commercial Armored Vehicles follows the recent announcement that military production work at the West Chester site will be transferring to the company's Sealy, Texas facility.

The O'Gara Group is a provider of security, safety and defense products and services to commercial and government organizations worldwide.

"The decision to sell the Commercial Armored Vehicles business and transition our remaining production work from our West Chester site to Sealy improves our competitiveness and allows us to focus on our core capabilities while also reducing costs and better positioning our business for the future," said Erwin Bieber, President of BAE Systems, Inc.'s Land & Armaments.

BAE Systems acquired the West Chester operations through its purchase of Armor Holdings, Inc. in 2007. The Commercial Armored Vehicles LLC business, a segment of BAE Systems Survivability Systems, designs, manufactures and integrates armor systems, including transparent armor, for military applications and commercial armored vehicles.

The sale of Commercial Armored Vehicles is expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2012.
