ASHLAND COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

One person was killed when a semi and a pick-up both slammed into a home in Ashland County.

The accident occurred just after 2 p.m. Tuesday at US 42 and OH Rt. 302 in Jackson Township.

"I heard a second bang when it ran into the house and then I saw explosions," said Gloria Ickes.

Gloria Ickes is lucky to be alive.  Nevermind uninjured after she was in her kitchen when  two trucks crashed into her home.

The damage was so bad her home was still burning four hours after impact.

"I kept hearing explosions," said Ms. Ickes.

OSP says Detin Ray Moore, 27, was eastbound on 302 driving a pickup hauling a trailer when he ran a stop sign and drove right into the path of an 18-wheeler.  Moore died instantly.

Seconds after the collision trucker Victor Jordan, who saw it all, did what he could to help.

"I knew God sent me this way.  I have never seen anything like this in my five years of driving," said Victor Jordan.

Seeing death and saving lives has taken a toll on Victor.  "I thank God I was able to save five lives today."

That same intersection has seen this kind of trouble before.

"A lot of problems here.  A motorcyclist was killed here in the spring and before that a vehicle ran into that building," said Gloria Ickes.

Gloria Ickes lived in her home most of her life and cannot bear the thought that it might be uninhabitable.

"No, I am not going to think any further ahead than right now," said Gloria Ickes.

Moore's passengers, Kaeleb J. Ansel, 37, of Cambridge, OH and Mark A. Hilderbrand Jr., 24, of Freeport, OH and the driver of the semi, James P. Dutton,49, of North Wales, PA, were all taken to Ashland Samaritan hospital and later life flighted to Metro

Ansel is listed in serious condition, Dutton is in good condition and Hilderbrand is in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
