CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The week-old giraffe calf at the Cincinnati Zoo now has a name.
Over 5,400 votes were cast on the Zoo's Facebook and Twitter pages, with Lulu being the winning name.
Lulu, meaning 'precious' in Swahili, beat out Mara and Rosie. Lulu received about 2,800 votes.
Over 4,000 suggestions were submitted earlier this week. Zookeepers then narrowed the choices to three.
The female giraffe was born Oct. 12 to parents Tessa and Kimba. She is display through the viewing window at Giraffe Ridge. Both Tessa and baby Lulu will be making their public debut, outdoors, in the coming weeks, weather permitting.
