Volunteers are working Friday in Hamilton to build a church in a day.
The United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI), headquartered in Hazelwood, Missouri sponsors a program within their religious organization called Church in a Day (CIAD). This program assists relatively newly formed congregations in building a church in which they can worship as they continue to grow.
Hundreds of volunteers from all over the United States and Canada converge on a city and build a church from the ground up in a day.
On Friday, volunteers are building the NorthPoint Church of Hamilton on Hancock Avenue. They began working at 7 a.m. Friday morning and are expected to be finished at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. A worship service will be held Sunday at 10 a.m.
The program has also built facilities in Iowa, Texas and Indiana.
