Police: Sleepy burglar found wearing homeowner's clothes

MT. ORAB, OH (FOX19) - A Mt. Orab man is facing charges after police say he broke into a home and was found asleep on the floor, wearing the homeowner's clothes.

Officers were called to a home on Harker Waits Road in Mt. Orab on Thursday night on a report of a breaking and entering with the suspect still inside the residence.

"The victim arrived at his residence and found the sliding door open to his residence.  Upon looking inside, he found a male subject lying on the floor and called 911," said Sheriff Dwayne Wenninger.

When Mt. Orab Police arrived at the scene, they found Kelly Fritz, 31, of Mt. Orab in a deep sleep on the floor.  He was detained until the Sheriff's Deputy arrived on scene.

The victim discovered that the suspect had several boxes, trash bags and a cooler full of items he was planning on taking from the residence. Some of the items had already been removed from the residence and were in boxes outside.

The suspect had also gained entry into an outbuilding by breaking the glass on a side window.  A 2001 Mustang that was parked at the residence was also broken into with the rear window glass being broken.

The suspect was found to be wearing clothing belonging to the victim and had personal belongings of the victims in his possession at the time of his arrest.

Fritz was taken to the Brown County Detention center on charges for burglary, breaking and entering, theft and criminal damaging.
