UPDATE: Teacher dies in Mt. Airy crash

MT. AIRY, OH (FOX19) -

A teacher with the Lockland school district died in a crash over the weekend in Mt. Airy.

Sherrie Bjurstom, 69, died Saturday at University Hospital.

Bjurstom was a special education teacher with Lockland Schools for the past 10 years. Prior to that, she taught in the Mt. Healthy School District for 24 years, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Bjurstom was a passenger in a car driven by Clyde Brown, 62, who was traveling north on Kirby Avenue when he lost control and went left of center and hit another vehicle.

Both Bjurstom and Brown were eject from the car. Brown is in serious condition.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call the traffic unit at 513-352-2314.
