Man dead after Washington Township crash Saturday

WILMINGTON, OH (FOX19) -

Police are investigating a two vehicle crash in Washington Township which left one man dead Saturday.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred at State Route 247, near Buckley Road in Washingtown Township, Highland County when Michael Burns lost control of his vehicle and crossed the double yellow. Burns, 58 of Seaman Ohio was driving a red Volkswagen Jetta that struck a white 2001 Ford Ranger. The Ford was driven by Scott Hargett, 32, also of Seaman Ohio.

Burns succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Hargett was transported by CareFlight to the Miami Valley Hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, alcohol or drug use is suspected, and seatbelt use remains under investigation.
