CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
A 57-year-old man was sentenced in U.S. District Court to 148 months in prison for possessing child pornography.
In September 2011, an undercover officer made contact with Martin Ross on a peer-to-peer fire-sharing network. Ross offered to share folders with the officer. Authorities say one folder included numerous images and videos depicting children under 12 years old involved in various sexual acts.
"Such images and videos themselves serve as a constant reminder of the horrors actually inflicted upon the children," said Carter Stewart, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio. "Those who share images of child pornography ensure that these images and videos will forever be available."
After further investigation, authorities found that Ross is a registered sex offender after a 2003 conviction for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and illegal use of nudity oriented material or performance. He was sentenced to five years in prison in 2003 and declared a sexually oriented offender. Ross was released on parole in March 2008.
Ross was arrested in November 2011 and has been in custody since his arrest. He pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography in July 2012. Ross was also sentenced to be under court supervision for the rest of his life.
