BUTLER COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

The Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics (BURN) Taskforce Agents arrested a man after finding two ounces of heroin and .25 ounces of crack cocaine.

Brian Thurmond, 33, was arrested after authorities stopped his vehicle on Symmes Rd. in Fairfield around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Thurmond fled the scene and led officers and deputies on a brief foot pursuit.

He was captured several hundred yards from the scene of the traffic stop. "Once again, we get a drug arrest involving heroin," said Sheriff Jones. "It seems it truly is becoming the poison of choice. Good job by the Taskforce members- a nice teamwork effort by all. It's great to use joint resources to take down the bad guys," said Sheriff Richard Jones.

Thurmond is facing five felony drug-related charged, along with felony obstruction official business and felonious assault on a police officer. Taskforce Agents seized the drugs, street-valued at more than $14,000, as well as a 1996 Chrysler.
