Convicted imam may speak to Muslims meeting in Cleveland
Muslims began gathering in Cleveland today for an annual convention that focuses on a variety of topics. Topics to be discussed include the Patriot Act, the presidential election and recent legal cases such as that of imam Fawaz Damra.
Damra leads Ohio's largest mosque in Cleveland. He was convicted June 17th of lying about alleged terrorist ties on his US citizenship application.
He had pleaded innocent and is appealing the verdict.
Organizers say they want the meeting to be positive and don't want negative media coverage to focus on the imam.
