Mom arrested for murder 6 months after her daughter's death

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A woman who told WBTV news, on camera, last December that her boyfriend killed her daughter was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder herself.

The 6-month-old girl was killed last December after Kirshay Mouzon said she left her in a motel room under the care of her boyfriend Todd Boderick.

Mouzon said when she returned to the room her daughter was not breathing. Police arrested Boderick and charged him with murder, but after further investigation, Mouzon is also charged with felony child abuse and murder.

She is expected to make her first court appearance Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m.

The family said goodbye to the baby they barely got the chance to know on Saturday in December.

Police say six-month-old Keyoni's father assaulted her, and she died from her injuries. One week later, her family said goodbye.

Todd Boderick, 25, was in court Thursday morning. He is charged with murder and is being held with no bond. Police arrested him early Wednesday morning for his daughter's death.

A judge appointed Boderick a public defender.

Officers say they were called to the Southern Comfort Inn on Tuckaseegee Road on Saturday in reference to a six-month-old baby girl not breathing.

In an interview with WBTV, the mother of the baby says she when she left her hotel room, her baby was fine.

Krishay Mouzon says she went to use wifi in the hotel's office and left her baby, Keyoni, with Boderick, her father.

Mouzon says when she returned to the room 10 minutes later, her baby didn't seem right. She says she checked and realized the girl wasn't breathing.

She called 911.

The little girl was rushed to the hospital where doctors told Mouzon the baby had broken ribs, trauma to the head and bleeding on the brain.  She later died from those injuries.

Homicide detectives responded to the hospital to investigate. Crime Scene Search returned to the Inn and collected evidence.

Investigators consulted with the Medical Examiner and determined the child's father physically assaulted her, leading to her death.

Boderick was taken to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Officer where he is being held with no bond.

This is not the first time Boderick has been accused of hurting a child.

Back in 2010, Boderick and his girlfriend were arrested for felony child abuse when his girlfriend's 7-week-old baby boy had multiple severe injuries that doctors say were inflicted by an adult.

Prosecutors say they had to dismiss that case because they couldn't prove who assaulted the baby and how.
