Lines form for the opening of Panera Bread

Long lines are forming for the grand opening of Panera Bread downtown.

Doors opened to the newest location of the popular chain at 6 a.m. on Wednesday. The new neighborhood bakery-cafe will offer handcrafted and freshly-baked artisan breads, bagels, pastries and specialty cafe-menu items.

To celebrate the grand opening, the first 2,000 guests inside of the cafe will receive a free Panera Bread Coffee Tumbler with free refills thru November 30th. In addition, the first 1,000 guests will also receive a free Cinnamon Crunch Bagel.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony, including an appearance by Cincinnati Mayor, Mark Mallory, will be held at 3:30 p.m.

On November 8th and 9th, guests who purchase a You Pick Two will receive a $5 Panera Bread gift card and during the entire grand opening week, visitors can also enter a drawing to win a $500 gas card.

"We look forward to expanding our Cincinnati service by opening our 20th location in the downtown area," said Diana Ballato, Director of Operations for the Cincinnati market. "With our continued service to the Cincinnati area, we hope to show our loyal guests that we aim to offer the ease and convenience of multiple downtown locations."

The new store is located at the corner of Vine and Sixth Streets, where Arby's used to be.
