50 pounds of pot uncovered during traffic stop

Indiana State Police troopers uncovered 50 pounds of pot during a traffic stop Thursday in Dearborn County.

Around 2 p.m., officers were patrolling Interstate 74 and stopped a 2010 Chevy Impala near the 164 mile marker for speeding.

During the course of the traffic stop, the officer became suspicious of criminal activity and requested a K-9 unit. A K-9 from the Lawrenceburg Police Department responded and a subsequent search uncovered about 50 pounds of marijuana.

The driver, Ashley L. Love, 32, of Indianapolis was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.  He is now facing a charge of Dealing in Marijuana-Over 10 Pounds a Class C Felony.

Police say the drugs were valued at about $50,000 and were being transported from Indianapolis to Cincinnati.
