CLARKSVILLE, IN (WAVE) - He welcomed them into his home out of the kindness of his heart. Then, police said they turned around and stole what he said was his life savings.
"Phil," 72, whose chose to remain anonymous, said he tries to be a good person, "I've always been a giver," Phil said.
In his spare time, he builds habitat homes, volunteers at a soup kitchen and even volunteers as Santa during the holidays.
"I've always been good to people. They have hardened me," he said.
Phil didn't think anything of it when a minister he knows asked if he had a place for Daniel Wimmer and Rhonda Smith. He brought them into his home.
"They went through this house and dug everywhere and found any valuables they could find," Phil said as he pointed to areas of his home.
From September 21 to October 19, police accuse the two of stealing Phil's $100,000 collection of coins, in addition to $1,000 in cash and Phil's Rolex watch.
"I feel raped," Phil said. "I don't know any other way to put it. I feel raped."
Phil said it took him 65 years to collect it all. He said some of the coins are so old and rare, they were around when Jesus Christ walked the earth. Two people stand accused.
"I pray to God every day," Phil said. "That they live to be 100 and he punishes them on this Earth for every day of their life."
The coins were his retirement safety net and were to be his grandchildren's inheritance.
"I have no reserve whatsoever," he said. "Instead of doing stocks and bonds, I invested in gold and silver."
Now, police need your help trying to find the two suspects.
"Currently, we do not have a valid address for them at this time," Clarksville police detective, Shane Bassett said. "Any help that the public could provide would be great."
About the suspects, Phil asserted "Never will I forgive them."
Anyone who has information is asked to call Clarksville police at (812) 288-7151.
