Authorities say a single-vehicle crash claimed a life on Monday afternoon.
Preliminary investigation shows Richard Grooms, 69, and his passenger Mary Grooms, 68, were heading southbound on State Route 247 when he lost control striking a utility pole just after 4 p.m.
Richard was taken by West Union EMS to Adams County Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Mary was taken as well to be treated for non life-threatening injuries.
