On the first big night of local college basketball, Cincinnati's teams impressed at home.

Behind 20 points from Sean Kilpatrick, UC scored its most points under Mick Cronin in a 102-60 win over Mississippi Valley State.

Xavier beat Butler, 62-47, on national TV. Jeff Robinson and Travis Taylor combined for 32 points.

Miami set a school record with 22 steals in an 80-54 win over Grambling State.

Kentucky lost its first game of the season to Duke. Freshman Nerlens Noel finished with 16 points and 9 rebounds.
