Town puts up Christmas lights for boy battling cancer
MIDLAND COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -
Christmas is arriving a little early in Bullock Creek. A mid-Michigan boy who is battling cancer is receiving a present more than a month before December 25th.
Jayden Lamb's classmates, friends and family are asking people in Midland County to light up their homes starting this weekend November 17th and 18th.
"Jayden has always been a Christmas guy, he just loved Christmas," said Tom Lamb, Jayden's dad.
Two of Jayden's classmates at Pine River Elementary had an idea to give their friend an early Christmas gift. Third graders Rita Gorsuch and McKenna Long went door to door asking neighbors to put up their lights.
"I hope that it just puts a smile on his face," said Long.
Jayden was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer during the summer of 2010. Recently his health took a turn for the worst. The cancer is now in his brain causing him to have seizures. The eight-year-old is resting at home after spending six weeks in the hospital earlier this year.
The family is thankful for the outpouring of support. Christmas Carolers visited the Lamb house and sang to the boy, his two older sisters and parents.
"I just, I just couldn't believe it," said Tom Lamb.
If you plan on putting up lights send your address to email@example.com and it will be put on a map for the family.
Jayden's family also has a facebook page where you can leave your holiday wishes or submit pictures of Christmas lights.
