Phoenix City Councilman Daniel Valenzuela will be part of a 21-member delegation from the West for an educational visit to Israel Nov. 25 through Dec. 1.
The official visit is sponsored by the American Israel Education Foundation, the charitable organization affiliated with the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, according to a news release from Valenzuela's office.
Valenzuela and other members of the delegation are expected to gain first-hand experiences that illustrated the importance of the U.S.-Israeli relationship.
Israel is currently embroiled in a war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
"I am honored to join an impressive list of U.S. political leaders on this journey during this especially sensitive time in the region," Valenzuela said. "I believe this will be a valuable and safe experience in spite of the current Gaza conflict."
The delegation includes elected officials from California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah, among others.
