Fire crews rescued a pet rabbit and cat during a fire in Hamilton on Tuesday.
The fire broke out at a home in the 500 block of Park Avenue.
The fire was reported by the police chief, Scott Scrimizzi, who kicked open the front door to see if anyone was in the house.
The fire appeared to have started in the kitchen.
Damage is estimate at $20,000. The family of four is being assisted by the Red Cross.
