HAMILTON, OH -

Two women and a child escaped out of a second story window in a house fire late Thursday night, jumping to the ground for safety.

The fire broke out on Franklin Street in Hamilton.

Fire crews say the residents heard a popping sound coming from the first floor as they were getting ready for bed, but didn't realize it was a fire until the stairs were completely blocked by heat and smoke.

The residents got out of the house through a window facing the street, and eventually jumped to the ground off a porch roof.

Authorities say the chimney is unsupported as a result of the fire, and could cause damage to neighboring homes. Two residents next door were also displaced.

No serious injuries were reported from the fire. The cause of the blaze is still unknown.

Damages are estimated at $75,000.
