Cincinnati Metro discontinues bus tokens, effective Dec. 31 - Cincinnati News, Weather, Sports from FOX19 NOW-WXIX

Last day to purchase Metro bus tokens

Cincinnati Metro will no longer be selling bus tokens, but instead, will be selling a new 10-ride Zone 1 ticket.

The thought is to make riding the Metro more convenient.

"Our new fareboxes support new fare options that make riding Metro easier," said Terry Garcia Crews, Metro's CEO.  "Tokens are awkward to use.  Our new 10-ride tickets are much more convenient."

The Metro will discontinue selling tokens on Dec. 31, 2012 but will continue to accept them through June 30, 2013.  There are no cash refunds.  The new 10-ride tickets are on sale now at Metro's sales office, 120 E. Fourth Street, Mercantile Building arcade downtown, weekdays 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
