Many angels still waiting for adoption

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – It's Cyber Monday and many people are shopping from home today. But the next time you head out to the mall to shop, don't forget to pick up an angel from the Salvation Army Angel Tree.

More than 16,000 children in WAVE Country are in need of your help to have a Merry Christmas. Over 1,200 angels were adopted over the Thanksgiving weekend in Louisville, but there are many still waiting.

You have until December 9 to adopt an angel and drop off your unwrapped gifts at the mall location where you made the adoption. You'll find the Salvation Army Angel Tree locations at the following places:

In Louisville:
Mall St. Matthews - Between Victoria Secret and Arhaus Furniture
Oxmoor Center - Outside Von Maur and Anthropology
Jefferson Mall - Outside Ross Dress for Less store

In southern Indiana:
Green Tree Mall in Clarksville
Walmart in Corydon

David Yarmuth, spokesperson for The Salvation Army Louisville Command, said shoppers are asked to cater to the clothing needs first, then buy the wants on the list.

If you'd rather give a family a good holiday meal, pick up a food angel for $25 at Kroger. The food angels are available until December 23.
