HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) -
The City of Hamilton is facing a $2.3 million deficit for 2013.
The Hamilton City Council met Wednesday evening to discuss a solution.
Hamilton's City Manager recommended cutting 18 firefighter positions, in addition to closing a fire house on Shuler Avenue.
Other budget-cutting proposals were cutting staff for the parking division, cutting executive secretary positions or cutting employee healthcare costs.
Public hearings on the proposed fire department cuts are at 6 p.m. Dec. 10 at Crawford Woods Elementary School; 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 11 at Miami University Hamilton; and at 6 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Hamilton Municipal Building.
Council is scheduled to vote on the 2013 budget on December 26th.
