Army recruit falls to death from hotel window July 9, 2004 at 11:12 PM EST - Updated June 28 at 3:45 PM An Army recruit about to leave for basic training fell nine stories to his death from the window of a Cleveland hotel. He's 18-year-old John Castillo of Fremont. Police say he was with five other military recruit s at the Embassy Suites when he fell from the window Wednesday night. He apparently playfully ran toward the window, tried to stop and fell. A witness claims he saw Castillo walking down a hallway drunk shortly before the hearing him fall out the window. Army officials say they advise recruits to get a good nights sleep when they have to leave early the next morning, and that they're pretty much on their own when staying at a hotel. It's highly likely they military will now reevaluate the level of supervision new recruits get.
